I'd like to be able to get my own car so I could drive up to the cemetery and have lunch alone with my dad and grandma. But yeah, my mom would also say cemeteries are her happy place. There's just something about them that is peaceful and serene and beautiful. With a mix of tragedy of course. But I can see where Vanessa was coming from

  • About the cemetery pics. I live in Seabrook, Tx that is just outside of Galveston where there is a beautiful and semi famous cemetery for victims of the historic 1900 storm. Although it's nowhere near as popular as Salem, many admit that its infamy attracts tourists. Also as a member of the alt goth community, I am very familiar with Graveyard Photography (esp in the Myspace days.) Within the community overtime we developed a certain set of unspoken "common sense" "courtesies" that one should observe during those activities. I wouldn't expect anyone to automatically know the deep communal history that concrete cemeteries brought to the US particularly the South but that's just it. Its OUR culture so we cant hold others to OUR expectations of decency if they're already going about things in a generally respectful manner. Unless someone is OVERTLY mocking, threatening, or actively harming someone or thing, just let them be. Man, sorry this is rambling but I'm drunk on peach wine and Phil talked a out 2 stories in my neck of the woods today so I'm excited. (PS. generally speaking photography is allowed in PUBLIC HISTORICAL cemeteries, not private gravesites or inside mausoleums. No photos in a public cemetery unless it is so old that it is no longer an "active burial site.")

  • Okay so I used to work with cemeteries. My grandfather used to have a job at one where he would do everything from taking care of the grounds to helping organize funerals. I was always there with him as a kid. Now that I’m an adult I’ve worked with a handful of other cemeteries. Rebuilding broken head stones, cleaning the grounds, planting flowers, rediscovering lost burials in the woods etc. Ik a bit about cemeteries is my point. Did you know that in the past people used cemeteries as parks basically? People would walk their dogs there, let their kids play, bird watch, etc. it’s not disrespectful it’s actually more respectful to hang out in cemeteries.

    JanderVKJanderVKMánuði síðan
  • The Greek word Sin means 'miss the mark'. All people miss the mark, so all people sin. The consequence of Sin is spiritual death, aka hell. Jesus of Nazareth, who was God in the flesh of a man, died for the remission of sin, including yours, was buried, and rose form the dead 3 days later. If you simply believe in this to apply to you and trust Jesus to save you from hell then you have everlasting life in heaven. As Jesus says in John 6:47 "verily, verily I say unto you, he that believes in me has everlasting life."

  • Please help me up vote or echo this. I remember Phil saying they use a 3rd party captioning service. Really the errors in the captions are inexcusable. That's not the fault of the PDS, but I noticed across several videos. Please make sure the caption service is doing it's job. I wouldn't mind misspelling a name, but saying "collecting balance" instead of "collecting ballots" and even substituting names like Pedilla with word approximations is not enough. These are really amateur mistakes, and they certainly shouldn't be the product of a professional caption service. The people that depend on captions deserve better. Accessibility is for all people.

A cemetery doesn't always have to be a painful place. It can be a place where people go to find peace and their happiness. To laugh and share stories of those we lost. It's okay to be happy in a cemetery. You don't have to be miserable just because others are.

If you believe actors should always be from the culture that their character represents, then why didn't you oppose actors like Sterling K. Brown playing an african character in Black Panther? Why didn't you oppose Benedict Wong, an englishman, portraying Khublai Khan in Marco Polo? You can't say this is about ethnicity. Cleopatra was definitely not Arabian and barely even Egyptian.

  • Ancient egyptians were not black ✋ First of all , I would like to direct my words to the educated people who think with mind and logic , everyone who visited egyptian museum and saw the Egyptian antiquities in particular will make sure that the ancient egyptians were not black at all I will put some of the many studies and researches that confirm my words , But before this ، we must deal with Africa as a very large continent that contains different and multiple races , for ex : Asia has many different races such as Indians , Chinese , Persians , Arabs , etc ... All of them belong to the same continent despite their ethnic differences , so Africa is just like Asia , what about the libyans , algerians , tunisians , morrocans and moritanians !!!! What about their neighbors the Egyptians !! All of those people lived in Africa from prehistoric time , they belong to Africa , they are african , and to be african doesn't mean to be black , I thank God that there is a science called geneaology which debunks the claims and lies that say Egypt is black , the name of Egypt ( kemet ) means black land referring to the fertile clay land and it doesn't mean at all that the ancient egyptians were black , here are some studies and researches that prove that there is a strong connection between the ancient egyptians and the modern egyptians . 1 ) Michael Klintschar et al 1999 2) el-morsy et al 2009 3) T-mohammed et al 2009 4) www.historyextra.com/period/ancient-egypt/ancient-egyptian-family-trees-are-present-day-egyptians-the-descendants-of-the-ancient-egyptians-who-built-the-pyramids/ 5 )www.cnn.com/2017/06/22/health/ancient-egypt-mummy-dna-genome-heritage/index.html 6)www.nature.com/articles/ncomms15694 7) lm.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fonlinelibrary.wiley.com%2Fdoi%2Fabs%2F10.1002%2Fajpa.1330360603&h=AT1hLKxnSTXzFnZG-8LL3NwGeVJ8s5fdNoe7xTUJLP5aV_f6smoDbZy0o1E6ZNPeI8Ulp76lRxXLC2LILn90UQpPPq8YSmsO3fZchU5PszbaxqqYmHTYAC94sXL9lkpWwiNZp45-HbVNToaIFjeugMfriOtgcqmJum7row Shortly , ancient egyptians were not black And modern egyptians are not arab or any thing else , but they belong to their ancestors the ancient egyptians .

She's not the one who ordered that war to happen and she's not fighting as a soldier on Israeli side, so why should the situation in the Middle East have ANY effect on what role she can play? Besides the fact that Cleopatra wasn't Arab, anyone should be able to play any role, regardless of nationality or religion. It's not just French actors for French characters, Chinese for Chinese, Namibian for Namibian or Brazilian for Brazilian. It's not Christians for Christians, Catholics for Catholics, Atheists for Atheists or Buddhists for Buddhists. Acting is about slipping into another role that ISN'T you. If I had to play a German, agnostic, heterosexual woman in her late 20's, then I wouldn't have to take acting classes, I could just be myself. Let people act out roles.

It isn't about not having an Egyptian actress, if the actress was from anywhere else in the middle east, no one would comment. Perpetuating ideas that an individual should not be given work because you disagree with the actions of the country they come from, is harmful and disgusting. If the same treatment was given to someone from another country, it would be the subject of controversy, not a response to it. Completely unacceptable double standards at play.
