Because our decision is based on constitutional principle and born of a necessity to protect the will of the American people, this Committee will not hold hearings on any Supreme Court nominee until after our next President is sworn in on January 20, 2017." • I think until we don't politicize every aspect of a person's life (religion, sexuality, gender, race, etc), things that shouldn't be political, we can't escape politics. Celebrity, company, individual, are all deeply affected by politics because we've made it that way. There is no longer an option to "not take a stance" because the status quo is a stance for oppression for many minority people. I hate it. I wish it wasn't that way. But that's the world we live in now.

  • In my opinion, saying celebrities should stay out of politics is equal to saying you, as an American, should stay out of politics. This includes any form of speaking out about your political views. As an American, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has every right to publicly post his views, political or not, under the 1st Amendment. Just as you and I have every right to post our endorsements and views on our social media platforms, through peaceful protests, and in our own homes. Remember that there are many countries in which people do not have those rights. We the people should stop attempting to silence others simply because of their careers and influence. Every American has the right to free speech, celebrity or not.

I do feel as well like I'm sick of people hating someone because they disagree with their political views and choices. When people say just keep your views to yourself, what they are really saying is don't make it hard for me to continue to like you. Guess what folks... you are not the center of the universe and it takes a decent person to look past things you disagree with in others. Nobody on my Facebook page seems to have an issue expressing who they want in office. So, how about you piss off with your keep it to yourself motto.

  • An answer for the 'celebrities and athletes should/shouldn't stay out of politics debate: if you are a celebrity or athlete that is now actively involved in political office, then by all means speak up about your politics; if you are a celebrity or athlete who is simply sharing your opinion on politics, keep your opinions off social media and avoid it in interviews. It is preachy and you are abusing your public attention. Go back and re-watch Ricky Gervais' Oscars dialog. He says it perfectly. Nobody cares what your opinion is because as a celebrity/athlete you are living in a bubble and for some reason forget what life is like outside your sheltered, security heavy, want for nothing world.

Then Democrats decide to go for late term abortions and state funded abortions which imo is too far, keep in mind I am pro-choice. I'm sure a lot of pro-choice people will disagree with me on this but if I have to choose between abortion being illegal or it being legal to kill a viable baby and paying for it myself through taxes, I will choose it being illegal sorry.

It’s also a great point that we do have a celebrity president and have had another celebrity president in the past and celebrity governors.
