    • @Ron Burgundy I can't remember what I had said, but one example is his stance on non-renewable energy. Trump wants to further increase drilling for coal and oil, the burning of which is will kill at least 25% of the world's ecosystem. Another is his repealment of the Affordable Care Act, which will mean insurance will be able to refuse based on preexisting conditions. There is more but this comment is long enough as it is IMO.

Whose to say one single person didn't come into contact after their test? No one. There is proof all over the US. Other countries are doing just fine. Because they aren't morons who couldn't set a dvr if their life depended on it. How many of the bad virus records has the US set? I have no idea what these statistics are, but I guarantee that the US tops every one. Yeah, that's right; your grandma might be dead so Ms. Jenner could have cake a balloons. Fukin tools.

God forbid someone might not celebrate them living for another year lmao. If we do ever get hit with an emt that knocks out the grid, these people are screwed. They'll be eating each other. No joke. Their survival skills consist of people wiping their butts. Once those people leave in order to live, they wouldn't know if they should sit, sh4t or wind their watch.

  • Yes on Prop 22!! As a previous driver for Lyft and Uber I greatly value the ability for people to be an independent contractor and choose their hours and lifestyle. That’s the beauty of these jobs. If you don’t like it get a traditional job, don’t ruin it for everybody else!! I also saw my earnings go down and down as new laws around ride-sharing got passed and Taxi companies fought to hurt these companies. I went from making $1000 a week easily to making $500 a week, to less. No on prop 22 would destroy the freedom that makes us choose Uber/Lyft to begin with. Any driver voting yes to prop 22 is thinking short-term gain at the risk of long-term loss. I don’t need Uber/Lyft to give me healthcare because if I wanted a job that controlled my life I could go get one. I chose those gig jobs so that I could have flexibility and freedom to make my own schedule and pursue my goals of ISworlds and twitch streaming on the side. And if traditional jobs became more like gig work and gave us freedom to work from home and choose our own hours then the entire workforce would become a better place!! Isn’t there a way to offer healthcare and benefits because they want to become a more competitive company? Instead of being forced to by changing the entire system that made them valuable to us to begin with? An employee is someone who is at the liberty of the company and must prove themselves everyday to be kept hired. An independent contractor is a person with dignity who works side by side with the company and is a valuable commodity that the company will have to keep happy or lose. If we turn independent contractors to employees they will become the same dime a dozen replaceable drones you see in every retail store. Not the cool, unique, creative people they are. Why? Because losing freedom does that to you. Think about it. If you work Lyft now you can easily quit to get a better job if you like, but if Lyft is your health insurance and then you decide it’s not the best job for you, you are less likely to be able to quit. So actually more benefits doesn’t always equate to better life when you lose your freedom in the mix.

  • Being famous doesn’t make you above or better than anyone else. IT does mean you are held to a higher standard as your actions are being watched. I wouldn’t go to a party of 100 people even if they were testing people at the door, not because I’m “poor,” but because I’m not stupid and I learned as a kid how to “delay gratification,” something most these spoiled celebrities have never even heard of. Shame on them for being so reckless and careless with their privilege.

If that bill passes, that won't be the case, and ill just stop using it.. I imagine a fair number of people won't. Especially if the price goes up more than $5 minimums.. it just wouldn't be as viable. That $5 would turn to $300-500 a month for some...

If a Prop-22 equivalent proposition was rejected in my state then I would lose, approximately, $400 a month in income. That means I’m not saving any money each month, every penny would go to bills. All for subpar healthcare benefits that I would never use because I couldn’t afford the deductible and copays. I know three other people that work with rideshare companies and they would all vote Yes as well. This is not a solely corporatist movement to to vote yes on prop-22.

  • Originally I supported the ride share companies. Drivers knew what they were signing up for when they joined the company's years ago when they first started. It was attractive to them that they could work whenever they wanted to and gain extra money on the side in the structure that the companies had set up. But after learning that they spent 200 million dollars on advertising, I switched sides. If you have that much money to simply advertise, you could have put that money back into your employees pockets instead of being greedy.

When so many people are making sacrifices and unable to see their families, it leaves an intensely sour taste for people with astonishing privilege to not follow health protocols and not be held responsible for possibly spreading infection.

I understood from the beginning that I cannot get unemployment / benefits, its supposed to a side hustle and and nothing more. I like that I can work as I please. I have a full time job and most other driver do as well that's why we supported keeping app based work as a gig job. Only when it goes into clock in/out, checking in with employers, expected to be somewhere or do something is when I feel it becomes that I need to be listed as an employee and deserve benefits then! But if I do it only when I want, I wanted to be listed as an independent contractor.

  • Threatening to double the cost of Uber if we vote no is so dumb. If you double the cost, guess what happens-everyone stops using Uber. If a company can’t operate profitably while paying their employees a livable wage then maybe they shouldn’t be in business. Obviously Uber is great for avoiding drunk-drivers but an alternative will pop up. The American economy is resilient and inventive. If Uber/Lyft dies, there will be a large untapped taxi market which I’m sure some new business will grab with a new plan.

All of human rights activism is to reduce this sort of thing. The companies in question are simply not worth working for. Professional propagandists preaching nonprofessional conditions for the people who do the work that earns those pros their salaries and benefits packages. Sorry. But it had to be said. You owners are assholes of the 2nd order. That means you are thieves and liars, bullies and perves. You think you're better than the workers without which you'd be on the street. Tbh I don't think natives deserve their own land. What other country allows smaller countries to form within its borders that were defeated by that country? They are Americans and if they want benefits of being Americans they need to be full Americans.

  • You said other industries may follow in making their workers independent contractors? Colleges and universities have been doing this for decades, hiring adjunct instructors instead of regular, tenure-track faculty. It saves them lots of money, at the cost of job security and a career with a future for those minimum-wage instructors. And for all this they had to get a graduate degree, often with enormous student loans. Their students have teachers with those stressors, often fewer qualifications, and far less availability in the form of office hours. And the regular faculty that are at that University? They end up with a much larger work load in the form of student guidance and committees, because adjunct instructors do not do those things. It's a crappy system all around and it doesn't work for anybody except the institution.

  • I am relieved to see this. I unsubscribed from you 4 or 5 years ago because your coverage felt very sympathetic towards Trump supporters/anti-left or at best fence-sitting with your "vote independent" campaign. I am glad you're wanting to be loud on the right side of history now. Resubscribing.

  • As an immigrant in America I cant vote. But its very clear democrats are victimizing themselves into deep depression. I dont support either the mad orange man or the old alzheimer guy but frankly, republicans are more relaxed.
