  • Phil, Phil....fill. I have noticed this trend with you lately. When I come to YOUR channel, it's almost a guarantee that I am going to run into YOU. You seem to be taking advantage of the way most people who visit are here to listen to YOU. My cat even pointed out that it's almost guaranteed that you will be wearing one of the articles of clothing that just happens to be sold by, well, you. I can't even get a minute into any video without you taking it upon yourself, to make sure you say your name. The opinions are always from your point of view, and I would even be willing to bet that you are filming with your own equipment in a location that you are financially responsible for. I have to imagine that their are others out there who might go so far as to say that you kind of have a monopoly on the content that is being disseminated by the platform you have invested so much into. I think I have a solution. Maybe you could let someone else benefit by, say, letting them design a shirt to be advertised, sold, and shipped by you. After a few months of doing this, I would be more than happy to assist whoever received that opportunity in starting an investigation into your ISworlds conduct and actions. Naturally, I have already come to the conclusion that people who come to your channel are more likely to purchase your products and value your opinion over most other. We will use what will not doubt be perceived as predatory business tactics on your part to seek possible retribution in the amount of $35 billion annually. I've been thinking this over for at least eight minutes or so, and I fear I see no other way to reward you for making the sacrifices that you have to reach the position you find yourself in. I'm sorry, man. And, clearly, shame on you.

  • Most podcasts I not only wouldn't pay Spotify for, I wouldn't even launch the app to see them. I'm so used to getting my podcasts via RSS that if one stops I'll probably forget about it. Dynamic ad insertion is also really bad for most of the podcasts I listen to, and worries me because normally an ad is just part of the episode and can be skipped like any other segment.

  • ok the amazon thing... isn't that just capitalism? Please correct me if I'm wrong and this is different. But so many larger retailers do this with popular products, target, walmart, kroger, trader joes is notorious for this. They're controlling the market they created, it's just amazon isn't a physical market. Obviously if it was copying products that are patented then that's bad, but if it's like a t shirt and they can make t shirts cheaper and customers buy their cheaper version of the same generic thing that's just supply and demand and they have the means to do it, then shouldn't they be allowed to? that just doesn't seem like wrongdoing to me, it seems like capitalism... but I may well have no idea what I'm talking about.

I already pay for Spotify premium and most of the podcasts I listen to also have ads or sponsors on them. The whole reason I have Spotify is so that I can listen to my podcasts and music in the same place. It's a great service and I love it. But there's no reason for them to put up a paywall to get to podcasts except greed. I guess I'd be fine if most of the money was going to go to creators, but all know that's not what would happen.

And as technology becomes more and more powerful , and they become more and more the single source of that technology for the entire would, I start to think about a science-fiction nightmare come true. The world controlled by a few small monopolies who have all our data, control all our technology, can spy on us at anytime and in essence control us. They already kinda do, just not in the overtly scary take down of society with AI and robots way, yet.
